Time has a way of leaving its mark, and at Adeyeri Iyeri Comprehensive High School in Owo, Ondo State, some of our cherished buildings now carry those marks visibly. The structure shown here once echoed with the lively chatter of students, the rhythm of teachers’ footsteps, and the laughter of youthful dreams. Today, it stands weathered — its walls cracked and its paint faded — quietly reminding us of the passage of time and the urgent need for renewal.
This block, like several others on campus, has served generations faithfully. It housed classrooms where lessons were taught not just in academics but in discipline, respect, and perseverance. Many of our alumni still remember sitting by these very windows, learning lessons that shaped their futures. But with years of exposure to weather and limited maintenance resources, these structures now require urgent attention to ensure safety, dignity, and continuity in learning.
The need for renovation is more than cosmetic. Leaking roofs, weak pillars, broken windows, and worn-out floors affect not just the school’s appearance but also the quality of education. Teachers strive to do their best, and students work hard to excel, but the environment matters. A well-maintained school is an inspiration in itself — a place that encourages students to dream bigger and learn better.
The Adeyeri Iyeri Alumni Association recognizes this reality and is making a clarion call to all former students, parents, organizations, and kind-hearted individuals: your support is needed now more than ever. Whether through financial donations, building materials, or professional expertise, every contribution counts toward rebuilding what once nurtured us. Together, we can transform these tired walls into modern learning spaces filled with light, colour, and hope.
Plans for renovation have already begun, starting with structural assessments and prioritizing the most affected blocks. The goal is to restore not only the classrooms but also the school’s overall learning environment — from desks and roofs to windows and walkways. With sustained alumni support, this vision will soon become reality.
When we invest in the school’s renewal, we are not just repairing walls; we are preserving history. Each brush of paint and each repaired window tells a story of gratitude and unity. It reminds current students that they belong to a community that cares — one that believes in passing forward the gift of education.
As the sun sets behind these old buildings, it casts a golden reminder that our duty to Adeyeri Iyeri continues. Let us rise as proud alumni and friends of the school to give back in whatever way we can. Together, we can restore these structures to the dignity they deserve — strong, beautiful, and ready to serve another generation of dreamers.
